d328 aircraft

D328 Aircraft - The tradition of "big is beautiful" associated with economies of scale has become a thing of the past. Frequency on smaller aircraft not only attracts higher average revenue and profit, but in many cases has been "disrupted" by lower switching costs to larger aircraft. The most obvious example at the other end of the aviation spectrum is the A380. Two high-performance twin long-haul aircraft offering the same number of seats on two flights as an A380 have the same total cost and therefore less risk. The low-end CS series (now the A220) pushed many airlines away from the larger units that airlines felt they had to pay per passenger mile towards the smaller A220s as well as the E2 family. The right combination of passenger mile value, trip value and capacity will drive profitability. Reducing the risk of filling fewer seats on low-yielding aircraft versus the pressure to sell more seats per flight has changed the way networks are calculated. Smaller versions of the A320 and 737 families are experiencing declining sales, while the A220 is growing. Due to its size, the D328eco is uniquely positioned to reduce the risk of high travel costs while offering good value per seat mile. Therefore, the logical and cost-effective solution is to replace slightly larger aircraft regardless of whether they are jets, or even larger aircraft if they are jets. With improved crew capabilities, a SAF-compliant airframe and more efficient engines, the D328eco will change the way we fly and help reduce our carbon footprint. Small is beautiful

Our design includes a number of features that will allow our aircraft to reach new heights and improve access to regional transportation through green means.

Optimized for higher propulsion efficiency and low noise levels, they work with the engine to ensure the D328eco™ remains one of the most economical turboprop engines in the regional and special mission markets.

Fully compliant with manufacturing processes and REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) regulations for more sustainable purposes.

The D328eco™ flight deck is designed for future single-pilot operations with the latest generation avionics suite. This improves operational efficiency and ensures full compliance with all known future CNS/ATM regulations.

The Pratt and Whitney Canada PW127S engine is more efficient and offers better performance and increased SHP to support increased MTOW. The service objective is improved and operational costs are reduced.

The D328eco™ is approximately 2 meters longer than the original D328® fuselage, providing additional seating and enhancing the aircraft's proven multi-role capability. Standard configuration for 40 passengers. The new cabin design improves health and safety capabilities by allowing standard wheelchairs on board.

The D328eco™ builds on the superior performance of the D328®. Improved landing gear with gravel kit allows access to rough runways and rough conditions.

Deutsche Aircraft, H2fly Launch Work On Hydrogen Powered D328

The D328eco™ matches its predecessor's outstanding field performance, offering more power and payload to expand the range of mission capabilities. The aircraft is capable of reaching an operating altitude of up to 30,000 feet. This capability allows the aircraft to access a lower-density upper airway, thus reducing fuel consumption and enabling longer missions.

The economic changes caused by the Covid-19 pandemic have prompted airlines to reconsider the prospect of operating turboprop aircraft. Deutsche Aircraft says the urgent need for airlines to readjust performance calculations as traffic levels gradually improve is a strong springboard for its plans to accelerate development of an upgraded version of the Dornier 328 regional turboprop.

In the first half of 2021, the German company plans to introduce a new brand around the new D328eco, which has a body length of two meters to accommodate up to 43 passengers and new Pratt & Whitney PW127S engines that can live in aviation. work environment Fuel (SAF). Deutsche Aircraft's engineering team from its headquarters in Oberpfaffenhofen, near Munich, plans to complete a preliminary analysis of the project in September 2021, by which time it expects to name key suppliers for the program.

Deutsche Aircraft said it would work with Pratt & Whitney to develop a "qualification roadmap" that would cover the transition to an increased SAF share. Ultimately, the aircraft will be able to operate at 100% SAF without the need for changes to the wing design or manufacturing process, as the airframe was designed for this development from the ground up.

Also on the horizon is a D328eco final assembly plant in Leipzig in eastern Germany. The company has secured the land for the factory and is preparing for the production phase, which is scheduled to begin with the EASA type certification of the new model in 2025. Flight tests will take place at Oberpfaffenhofen, where there are several complete examples of the Do-328.

According to Deutsche Aircraft's Dave Jackson, the D328eco program carries a low technology risk because the redesigned design is based on an existing type certificate for the last variant of the former Dornier 328 family, the 328Jet. "It's a bit like what Airbus did with the A320neo, because we're adding a new engine and upgrading the avionics and landing gear," he told AIN. Previous versions of the twin turboprop Do-328 are powered by PW100 series turboprop engines.

Deutsche Aircraft will also upgrade the flight deck to prepare for a possible transition to single-pilot operations. An avionics supplier for the program is expected to be announced in the first half of 2021.

The new PW127S powerplant can use either SAF or Jet-A to provide operational flexibility while supporting infrastructure and regulations for the new fuel are in place. Deutsche Aircraft formed an advisory panel of potential airline customers from around the world to discuss technical specifications and operational considerations for the new aircraft.

According to Deutsche Aircraft, the aircraft is expected to deliver a fuel economy of 2.6 liters per 100 kilometers per passenger. It will also be able to operate from just 1,000 meters (3,280 feet) of runway at a maximum speed of 324 kilowatts per second and at an altitude of 30,000 feet.

Deutsche Aircraft has not yet released a range estimate for the D328eco. The company said it can operate on segments of the same length as the original Dornier 328 on regional airlines.

New composite materials will be used in the body of the D328eco. The aircraft will be manufactured using the latest REACH environmental sustainability requirements covering all materials and manufacturing processes. As part of this commitment, the new factory in Leipzig will operate according to the latest Industry 4.0 methods and will be completely paperless.

Sierra Nevada's 328 To Build Regional Aircraft For Turkey

"We expect a significant jump in business travelers and consumers who closely monitor the environmental performance of the aircraft they fly," Jackson said. There are hundreds of aircraft in the 30-40 seat class and we see strong opportunities in the replacement market.

Overall, Jackson said there are about 3,800 legacy regional airliners in the 50-seat class, and many of those types are no longer in production. "The business case for this new aircraft remains strong and perhaps the long-term impact of the current pandemic may lead to market conditions favoring smaller aircraft on longer segments," he concluded. We believe the short-haul market will be the first to recover.

Deutsche Aircraft developed the German company 328 Support Services, which has the original Dornier Do-328 type certificate. It is a subsidiary of American Sierra Nevada Aircraft Support Group, which acquired the company in 2015.
